Family Event in April - and more in May

The pond is teeming with life at present……

Family Event including Pond Dipping

Join us on Saturday, 13 April at 10.30am for a family event led by Paddy Hayes, the Education and Outdoor Learning Officer at Barnes Common. There will be a mix of activities including pond dipping, plant identification and nature art. £5 for adults, free for children and concessions. Use Eventbrite link to book. £5 per adult and free for children and those on means tested benefits. Children over 6 welcome supervised by an adult throughout the session.

Resilient Gardening

Join us on Saturday 11 May at 12 noon at Pensford Field for a talk by Katrina Roche, local gardener and freelance garden writer with a blog weedsrootsandleaves.com.

She will talk about how to adapt your garden to cope with climate change. From gravel mulch to waterbutts, she will suggest ways to harness the effects of our changing climate to make us better gardeners. To book this free event, follow the Eventbrite link.

Bat Walk and Talk at Dusk

Join us on Thursday 16 May at 8pm. Will Scott-Mends, a Conservation Officer at Barnes Common Ltd will help us learn more about bats. With his help, some luck and bat detectors, we will hopefully discover some bats. To book this event, follow the Eventbrite link. £6 per person, £4 for concessions - over 65, children and people on means tested benefits. Children over 8 welcome supervised by an adult throughout the event.

More fun events in 2024

We also have Dr Mark Spencer, an experienced botanist and mycologist, introducing us to the wonders of plants and fungi in October. Lots more in the pipeline on hedgehogs, bats, birds and butterflies - we’ll keep you posted.
