Bug News

The Conversation Volunteers (TCV) ran a session in Pensford Field in September in memory of a woman who had her hen party in the field 15 years ago – they restored our existing bug hotel and built a lovely new one. A special thanks to all the volunteers and to TCV.  The bugs are going to be very snug indeed.

Paul Cook managed to visit Pensford Field on 24 August and found a couple of butterflies; Small White and Speckled Wood but the grassland area was very dry and most of the flowering plants were past their best. The grassland is surrounded by woodland and he advised it will be important to limit encroachment by trees. He also recorded a few interesting insects mostly from the various fruit trees and the prunus hedge - details below. All records with photographs have been uploaded to iNaturalist (https://www.inaturalist.org)
